One Woman, A Hobby, and a lot of Gemstones
Hi I’m Sonia, the creator behind AccentsBySonia. I started creating handcrafted jewelry over 15 years ago with just a small bead design board, a bit of wire, a small set of beads, and little to no idea of what I was doing. Since then, that small collection of materials and minuscule knowledge has grown into a home studio and several creations of my own design. As an artist at heart, I explore the symbolism behind the materials I use and how those ideas come together in each and every piece I create. I opened up my online shop in February 2020.
Whether it be picking out produce in the grocery store or entrenched in the thralls of a binge worthy television show, inspiration for making jewelry is a constant in my life. For those ideas that survive my sporadic thoughts, I often create wire sketch designs or, when the idea is not as concrete, I will form a color pallet from my collection of gemstones and their associated meanings. These abstracts give me an idea of how I want each piece to feel and help me determine which techniques and wiring will best help me to realize the piece. Since starting my shop, I have begun documenting my designs on my Instagram page where I have been lucky to revisit some of my designs through the custom requests of my followers.

Making jewelry gives me focus and a creative outlet that I can take pride in and I am grateful everyday that I have been able to pursue this dream of mine and I hope to continue sharing my passion with the world.
